Western Digital has announced that it plans to ship the WD RE2 (RAID Edition) 750 GB hard drive in August in India. The WD RE2 hard drives have a data transfer rate of 3.0 Gb/s and feature Native Command Queuing (NQC) along with 16 MB cache for high system performance.
Sharad Srivastava, Sales Director, South Asia and India, Western Digital said, “”WD has continued to leverage its extensive experience from previous RAID Edition drives, to develop a hard drive perfectly suited for a variety of high-capacity enterprise applications. These drives demand high capacity, reliability, performance and advanced features.”
The new WD RE2 hard drives (model WD7500AYYS) cater to the burgeoning high-capacity enterprise market and are reliability-rated at 1.2 million hours MTTF (mean time to failure) in high duty cycle environments. Bundled with a new 750 GB capacity, this offers enterprise-class drives with reliability and other required qualities for demanding server and network-attached storage environments, such as file servers, e-mail servers and Web servers.
In addition, the other proven features included in the new WD RE2 750 GB hard drives are:
*SecurePark for improved shock characteristics
*StableTrac for improved vibration performance
*IntelliSeek to reduce power consumption, noise and vibration
When launched in the Indian market, the WD RE2 GB hard drives will be available from the company website and also through select distributors and resellers. Manufacturer’s Suggest Retail Price (MSRP) for the WD RE2 750 GB is Rs. 12,500.
